A visual toolkit for resilience
Cities across Europe are facing increasing threats from natural hazards—floods, heatwaves, storms, and wildfires. But adaptation starts with understanding. This series of Quick Guides, developed by the REGILIENCE, IMPETUS, and TransformAr projects, provides local and regional authorities with clear, actionable insights on how to prepare, respond, and build resilience.
Designed to be practical and accessible, each guide focuses on a specific hazard, breaking down complex challenges into concise, engaging formats. Infographics, checklists, case studies, and key resources make these guides more than just reports—they are tools for action.
Designing clarity and impact
The challenge? Creating a design that captures attention without overwhelming the reader. These guides needed to feel modern, neutral, and informative—moving beyond climate change fatigue to focus on solutions.

The design approach centered on:
📌 Simplicity with depth – A structured, grid-based layout that allows for flexibility across topics, ensuring each guide is distinct yet part of a cohesive series.
📌 Bold use of color – Not dictated by branding but chosen to reflect urgency, diversity, and adaptability, allowing the design to evolve alongside the project.
📌 Interactivity and engagement – Subtle interactive elements, like overlays revealing photography, make the content visually dynamic and immersive.
More than a publication—an evolving resource
With around ten guides planned, each one builds on the last, culminating in a final comprehensive edition. Accompanying infographics and social media materials extend their reach, making them easily shareable and accessible across platforms.
Balancing authority with approachability, this series speaks to different audiences—firm and informative for policymakers, visionary and hopeful for local leaders, and direct and actionable for the public.
The result? A set of publications that appear simple at first glance but are deeply considered in their execution, built to inform, inspire, and empower cities to take meaningful action against natural hazards.
Proud to have contributed to bringing these essential resources to life—designing with purpose, clarity, and impact.
